The parade was a great success and I think the girls really did enjoy marching even if some of them were very busy handing out candy. Each of them listened to the rule about not throwing candy, so I am very proud of them!
This coming weekend we will be taking our food donations to the CUOC. It is alright to bring any food that has been collected to the meeting tomorrow. We will be getting together to make the actual delivery, though the details on that are still coming as their hours have changed since I was last there. Watch your email!
Don't forget the events that are quickly coming. Horseback riding will be on Dec 3rd, and we will have our next meeting on the 6th.
Remember, if you have any questions or thoughts, please don't hesitate to contact Wendy or Missie!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is important to look at how much we each have to be thankful for. And while we are being thankful, the girls have decided to help people in need by collecting food for the local food bank located at the Christian's United Outreach Center in Asheboro.
How it will work: The girls want to create flyers that they will distribute prior to collection day. This is highly based on the large scale food drive that the US Postal Service does each year, but instead of bags, our girls will be responsible for giving out up to 15 flyers. (These were decorated at the last meeting.)
The flyers will contain basic information about who we are and why we are collecting food. Each parent/daughter pair will be responsible for collecting the food from the people they handed flyers out to. While the official collection and delivery day is November 19th, parents are welcome to collect for their daughter at home until that day.
We would like as many girls as possible to meet on the 19th in order to deliver the food to the CUOC. If you are able to participate, the girls will need to meet in the parking lot of the CUOC (off sunset avenue) at 3:00 PM. This won't be a long activity, but it is important that the girls see the impact that they have.

Trick or Treating Fun!
We had fun last night eating pizza, chips, cookies, and going trick or treating together. Only a few showed up, but we had a blast anyways. It was nice to go around together; for both the girls and the parents!
Thanks to Wendy for allowing us to hold this event at her house.

Event: Girl Scout Trick or Treating!
The girls wanted to get together and go trick or treating together this year. Wendy has offered her house as a meeting point, since it is right beside one of the most popular trick or treating places in Asheboro. This event is not a requirement by any means, but if you would like to join us, we will be meeting at 5:30 PM on the day of trick or treating (just in case it isn't held on the 31st) for a light pizza dinner.
After pizza, we will go out as a group to the neighborhood behind Wendy's house. Make sure that you come dressed up so that we can leave right after we eat!
Since there are going to be pizza's involved, please drop Wendy or Missie a quick email or IM to let them know if you will be coming.

Yard Sale Video!
It was a busy day, but I was able to get one short video of the girls being silly during a lull in customers. In the background, you will hear Becca explaining Legally Blonde to me... =)
** This is on youtube, but it is unlisted. You can only see it if you have the link (or come to this page).
The Yard Sale Was A Success!
While it looked like we wouldn’t have much at the beginning of the sale, things really did turn out well. I want to thank all of the girls that showed up to help; they did a great job handling money, greeting customers, counting change, and manning the baked goods table.
We sold tons of clothes and almost all of the baked goods! In all, we made over $130. The girls set a goal, worked it, and achieved it even though it looked like they might not at the beginning of the day. Congratulations to you all!
On a side note, I will upload pictures soon. I didn't get too many, but we do have something to document the day.
Parents – Please remember that we have a meeting this Tuesday at the church at 6:30 PM. Riding health forms and $15 MUST BE TURNED IN BY THIS MEETING! The ranch requires the money and a set number of who will be attending well in advance. If we do not get this form and the money by this meeting, we will have to assume that your daughter will not be going. Please remember; once the number is turned in, there is no way to change it!
Thanks again for all of the help and for sharing your girls with us on this Saturday. It was a lot of fun and they really did do a great job with everything.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments. See you all on Tuesday!

Journey Chosen!
At the last meeting, the girls discussed the three choices they had for their Journey this year. While some of the girls wanted to go with the artsy route, more girls supported 'Get Moving'.
As this is a collaborative effort, the girls discussed how to incorporate artsy stuff into the Get Moving journey so that everyone would be able to have something that they would enjoy. After another short discussion, this was the final decision and the girls seemed to be very excited about it.
Journey books are available online at the Girl Scout Store : https://www.girlscoutsp2p.org/catalog/productDetail.php?product_id=b935dd2a-0249-f407-da3d-4b44bb246ed0&cid=24
The cost is $7.00, and the store does ship if you want to purchase it online. We will have some shared troop books, but if you want one for yourself at home, you can speak with Lisa or go to the link above.
Remember, if you have any questions or comments, please contact Missie at starlitwonder@hotmail.com or by calling her.
